Topographic sheet index
Survey of India Everest / Polyconic (old) series and the matching Open Series Map (OSM, WGS84) numbers. Click the map or search a sheet number.
How the numbering works
Old series: 4°×4° blocks at 1:1M (e.g. 53) → 16 sheets of 1°×1° at 1:250K lettered A–P column-wise from the NW corner (53H) → 16 sheets of 15′×15′ at 1:50K numbered 1–16 (53H/2) → quarters at 1:25K (53H/2/NE).
OSM: IMW 6°×4° blocks at 1:1M (H43) → 24 sheets of 1°×1° lettered A–X row-wise (H43X) → 16 sheets of 15′ numbered 01–16 (H43X02) → 1:25K quarters (H43X02NE) → 25 sheets of 3′ at 1:10K lettered A–Y (H43X02O).
From 1:250K downwards the two systems share the same graticule cells. The datum differs (Everest vs WGS84), so the old sheet edges are drawn at nominal degree values.
